On the 15th May 2013, ROK Stars PLC acquired a majority shareholding in ABK Betriebsgesellschaft der Aktienbrauerei Kaufbeuren GmbH (ABK GmbH) from Bavarian-based brewery, Aktienbrauerei Kaufbeuren AG
ABK GmbH’s primary tasks will include increasing sales through developing new export markets and, in so doing, lowering the unit production costs.
Commenting, Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman of ROK Stars said “We have been studying the remarkable growth in recent times in the Craft Beer market in several countries, particularly the US, and we feel that proper German beer has a unique credibility, developed under the ancient ‘Reinheitsgebot’ German Beer Purity Laws of 1516.
Aktienbrauerei in Kaufbeuren, Bavaria, can trace its roots even further than that – to 1308 – representing more than 700 years of Bavarian brewing heritage and tradition.”
ABK GmbH will be marketing a range of beers specifically for export from Germany under the logo ‘ABK – Since 1308’
